200+ job deadlines; 30 journalism calendar listings; College Media Madness
Happy Friday everyone and welcome to another edition of Inside The Newsroom, home of the world's largest curated journalism jobs board. We handpick every single job, so you don’t have to. If you’re a paid subscriber and don’t have access to the job board, please email me at daniellevitt32@gmail.com and I’ll send you the link.
Today my excitement is on another level. Maybe it’s because my Mizzou Tigers won their first men’s NCAA Tournament game in 14 years, or maybe it’s because life is a beautiful gift and it’s up to us, and us alone, to make whatever we want out of it. Holy crap it feels good to be Philosophical Daniel.
Existentialism aside, on Monday we dove deep into the crisis engulfing the BBC, and summarized some of the nuance of the situation.
Today’s newsletter features exactly 30(!!!) listings on our journalism awards, conferences, events and fellowships calendar. Some of my favorites include SABEW’s Covering Silicon Valley and Tech Business; ONA’s newsletter idea swaps on metrics, growth, partnerships and revenue; and ProPublica’s event on today’s abortion landscape.
And on our job board, we have more than 200 deadlines coming up before the end of March. Subscribe below to access them all, as well as more than 2,000 journalism jobs across the U.S., UK, Canada and Europe. Each option comes with a free seven-day trial.🤘
If your organization is hiring, fill out this form and we’ll help promote your openings. And if you’re one of our paid subscribers, join our Candidate Board to have employers come to you directly.
And lastly, our friends at The State Press — the student-run media publication at Arizona State University — are this year’s lead on College Media Madness, an annual fundraising event for student media publications across the country. In 2021, they raised $96,000, and last year $124,000. This year we’re hoping to smash through the $150,000 barrier. For more info including how to get involved, and who the participating schools and publications are, visit collegemediamadness.com, email fundraising.statepress@gmail.com and follow @MediaMadness23 on Twitter for updates.
That’s all for today. We have some new featured jobs at Forum Communications and Street Spirit below. Until then see you again on Friday!
