Hello folks and welcome to another edition of Inside The Newsroom, home to the world’s largest journalism job board and calendar. Today I’ve switched up the format of the newsletter slightly, and have focused on our growing journalism calendar full of dozens of fellowships, grants, webinars, conferences, workshops and awards programs. Below I’ve included around 25 listings which have deadlines approaching.
In addition to the calendar, I added a humongous 541 new jobs and internships to the board, taking our active total to well over 1,000. And we also have almost 200 new media salaries added to our database this week, taking that total to more than 8,500.

Ideal Candidate: The Daily Beast is looking for smart, witty and incisive writers to join our team, which delivers award-winning original reporting every day. Their fiercely independent and irreverent work reaches millions of readers every month. You will be based outside the U.S. to help deliver news to our U.S. audience around the clock. You are an all-rounder who is on top of U.S. politics, global news, media and pop culture. You have a deep understanding of American culture, preferably having lived in the U.S. or with a track record of working for American publications.

Location: U.S.
Ideal Candidate: 5-7 years of experience in management; Newsroom experience and a deep understanding of journalistic standards and ethics; Technical skills including coding or advanced data analysis are nice to have but are not a prerequisite for this role. Curiosity about new technologies, how data can inform reporting and news gathering, however, are a must; A working knowledge of news visualizations and cleaning and analyzing large datasets, particularly in the public health realm; An understanding of methods for acquiring data, from FOIA requests and data scraping to working with academic researchers and local newsrooms; Familiarity leading the design, development, and publication of websites, interactives, and graphics.
