✍️✍️ Journalism Awards, Events and Fellowships Deadlines ✍️✍️ — May 5
King Charles' coronation; Time off; New journalism jobs, awards, events and fellowships deadlines
Hello folks, welcome to the Friday edition of Inside The Newsroom. It’s been a tough time within the industry as of late, with layoffs feeling unlimited. As bad as it is — and it is bad — these things always operate in cycles. The next opportunity or platform or ‘thing’ is never far away, so be sure to stay ready and prepared for whenever that next upswing comes.
This weekend is different than normal here in the UK, as the entire country will stop to observe King Charles III’s coronation. That means I’ll be burying my head in the sand and using it as an excuse to have a few days off. So I’ll be back in your inboxes on Tuesday for a quick jobs update, and then we’ll be back to normal with another update to our Journalism Awards, Events and Fellowships Deadlines Calendar next Friday.
Until then, some quick housekeeping. Enjoy the weekend! 🤙
