✍️ Journalism Awards, Events, Fellowships and Trainings ✍️ — October 20
19 new fellowships, trainings, webinars, conferences and awards
Hello folks, I’m slightly later than usual today as I’m in between moving apartments, so apologies for that. And thanks also for bearing with me on Tuesday as I dealt with my migraines. Despite the intense pain, we did manage to update the job board with more than 500 new jobs and internships and will do so again next week. If you want full access to all of our jobs postings, you can do so by subscribing for as little as $6/£5/€6.
The other good news is that today we added 19 new listings to our calendar, including new fellowships, grants, webinars, trainings and awards. Our total number of postings is approaching 50 and I have around half as many waiting to be added up until the end of the year, so I’m going to have to think of a way to beat Substack’s email length limits to include them all.
That said, there’s plenty for you to get your teeth stuck into until then. A couple of this week’s favourites of mine include the BBC’s journalism apprenticeship program, and Smartocto’s webinar on empowering news media with AI.
And a quick plug for the Center For Media Engagement who are looking for general assignment reporters to write a news story about the impacts of climate change on their local area (350-450 words). The aim of the study is to help researchers better understand the journalism process and to identify ways to better support journalists. Journalists will be compensated $200 for their work and, if they would like, the story can be published on their site and circulated by their communications team. Interested journalists can contact Research Associate Emily Graham, emily.graham@austin.utexas.edu, for more details. They ask that they please include (a) the approximate number of articles you have published in the past year in non-student outlets, (b) whether you would consider yourself a general assignment reporter/journalist and (c) links to 3 or 4 articles you have written. And please mention that Inside The Newsroom sent you :)
If you have a job, internship, fellowship, webinar, conference or award coming up, fill out this form and we can help you promote it.
And lastly join our referral program and receive free paid access simply by sharing us with your friends and colleagues. Simply share the below referral code and receive complimentary paid subscriptions for your trouble. Any questions, I’m at daniellevitt32@gmail.com.
That’s all for this week. Enjoy this week’s calendar listings and we’ll do it all again on Tuesday. 👋
