1,250+ journalism jobs and internships; 110+ journalism fellowships, grants, webinars, conferences, workshops and awards; Almost 8,000 media salary records
Happy Wednesday folks and welcome to another edition of Inside The Newsroom, home of the largest journalism jobs board and calendar in the world. And now, home to more than 20,000 subscribers! — thank you once again to every single person that has read us, shared us and subscribed to us over the years. 🙏
Talking of which, yesterday was our sixth birthday! I’ll save you from another soppy monologue of how it’s been one helluva journey so far — you can read all about that in the link above — but I do sincerely appreciate everything this newsletter has given me, and that’s all down to you. So thank you once again. 💗
Today I’m writing from Salento, Colombia, in the heart of the country’s coffee region, after a wild past week making it here for a death in my girlfriend’s family. Thankfully everybody is doing as well as possible given the circumstances, and after a last-minute dash to Cartagena last week, it got me thinking about a phenomenon that feels larger than life.
Two years ago I had the honor of attending one of my best friend’s weddings in Cartagena. Sharing her special moment and then traveling to various spots around the country for the first time was an incredible three weeks. Over the past ten days, I’ve re-walked the same majestic streets of Cartagena’s Old City, sat in the same seat of my favorite coffee shop in Bogotá, and on Friday I’ll visit the same music theater where I met my girlfriend.
While I certainly enjoy visiting new places, there is something uniquely special about re-experiencing happy memories for a second time. Perhaps it’s simply nostalgia, with the added bonus of being physically present beside your memories. Whatever the name of this phenomenon is — I couldn’t find an accurate enough psychological description. If you know what I’m talking about, please do email me and I’d love to discuss more — it’s been so touching to relive such fond memories, albeit in difficult conditions.
Right, psychology session aside, today we have another whopping update with hundreds of new records to our various databases. If it’s new jobs or internships, fellowships or events, awards, or media salaries, you can find updates on everything below.
If you have an opening or opportunity of any kind and want to promote it in this newsletter and on our job board, fill out this quick form or write to me at danielevitt32@gmail.com.
And please, keep sharing us with your networks (see more about our referral scheme that rewards you with free paid subscriptions below) and, slowly but surely, we can keep growing one subscriber at a time.
See you all next week!
