I'm so sorry you had to go through this, Daniel! This is so messed up, but unfortunately, I've been there, too, and I know that frustration all too well. I'll make sure to direct my subscribers your way and spread the word about your newsletter even more now -- you have a really wonderful resource here and it makes me sad that a publication like WSJ wanted to shut it down rather than support it.

I can't tell you how sorry I am that the WSJ gig didn't pan out. Sounds like you were an afterthought in their eyes and not worth their precious time... their loss! I'm hoping that you manage to keep this going - I've come to depend on your & your assistants' analysis of thing happening internationally and I really enjoy the insights. If you need to up the price of the subscription, I'll ravage the car and couch cushions for all the spare change I can muster to cover it. Thanks for being open with us about this development.

You've done a great thing! Not only in setting up the newsletter (which I have seen from your interactions and quick expansion has been massively useful for people internationally) but also in taking a stand and ALSO in being transparent about it for others coming up. Good job, best of luck, glad to be a subscriber.

Hey Daniel, so sorry you went through this! As someone who also recently quit a job in a newsroom after being treated pretty poorly and being given absolutely no support, I can totally relate to your frustration. You absolutely made the right call, and your newsletter is amazing! Hoping the next chapter is a little brighter.
